DEF CON 31

"DEF CON" is one of the largest and most well-known hacking and cybersecurity conferences in the world. It is usually held annually and brings together cybersecurity professionals, hackers, researchers, and enthusiasts from around the globe. DEF CON provides a platform for participants to discuss, demonstrate, and learn about various aspects of cybersecurity, including vulnerabilities, exploits, and defensive measures.

During the 31st edition of this event, discussions were held on how logs provide information for developers and security teams but can also be exploited by hackers.

Through research conducted and published in 2010, some of which bear the name of Francesco Ongaro "ASCII", it was explored how ANSI escape sequences can be used to manipulate log files, causing chaos and disorder.

Following these insights, solutions were provided to prevent the insertion of malicious sequences into logs, ensuring reliable data and facilitating incident investigations.
